Dr Bate has conducted several tests of the Neuroliminal Brain Wave Training. The first one was started in April 2004. The results were mixed, as several volunteers had previously used EEG BF training at home (using EEG BF units from Dr Bate), and failed to improve noticeably.
In addition, the Hawthorne Effect was new to Dr Bate, and this frightened some enough to quit using the CD. The results of this original test were skewed somewhat, although the overall results showed that both Dr Bate's theories were probably correct! As a result, a second volunteer test was done late in the same year. The above problems were not a factor. The Hawthorne Effect did not affect the volunteers simply because it was explained as "harmless", and volunteers were told to "just work thru it". These two tests showed three important results:
